On October 18, 2017, Karen Mariscal was a national panelist in a presentation concerning the Section 8 Housing Choice Program for seniors and disabled clients.  The speakers gave an overview of the Section 8 program and discussed the calculation of rent, special needs trusts, and reasonable accommodations, among other things. Mariscal analyzed the DeCambre v. Brookline Housing Authority decision regarding how income from a special needs trust should be calculated by the public housing authority, and gave her insights regarding how the Section 8 program works in Massachusetts.
